The Museum offers programs for all ages that enlighten and entertain while celebrating art and regional history. Museum members receive reduced or free admission to most activities. Programs to look forward to include:

School Group Tours

Adult Guided Group Tours
Program includes a docent-guided tour of exhibitions and reduced admission for groups of 10 or more. Bus tour groups are welcome. For more information and to schedule a visit, see our Guided Tours page.

Canajoharie Library & Arkell Museum Annual Juried Art Show
This exhibit in the Regional Art Galleries is open to all artists living in New York State and working in any media. The show runs from November through December each year with a reception and awards ceremony on the first Friday in December. The prospectus is available at our Juried Art Show Call For Entries page.

Holiday Art & Crafts Fair
This seasonal event, hosted in conjunction with the Canajoharie Library, showcases the best talented local artisans, including plein air paintings, artisan jams & jellies, handcrafted seasonal decor, and more!

Museum Programs are supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

The mission of the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond. The Arkell Museum collects, preserves, researches and presents American Art and Mohawk Valley History, and promotes active participation in art and history related activities, to enhance knowledge, appreciation and personal exploration by all.
