The Museum offers programs for all ages that enlighten and entertain while celebrating art and regional history. Museum members receive reduced or free admission to most activities. Programs to look forward to include:

Art & History Sandwiched-In
A series of Tuesday Noon-time talks offered in the fall and winter. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch to enjoy while listening to illustrated talks on American Art or Mohawk Valley History. Come early to buy coffee or drinks before the talk.

Adult Workshops
Hands-on learning about faux finishing, traditional doll making, quilting, and watercolor painting. Upcoming workshops are listed on the events calendar.

Family Discovery Days
A mix of music, storytelling, craft demonstrations, hands-on activities, and a few surprises for all ages. See our Calendar of Events for information about the next Family Day.

Film Series
Popular Hollywood films will be shown, along with independent and foreign films in a variety of genres. Some films will be introduced by guest experts and scholars, with some after-film discussions, and all will include a choice of tempting edibles to enjoy while watching the film.

School Group Tours

Adult Guided Group Tours
Program includes a docent-guided tour of exhibitions and reduced admission for groups of 10 or more. Bus tour groups are welcome. For more information and to schedule a visit, see our Guided Tours page.

Canajoharie Library & Arkell Museum Annual Juried Art Show
The Annual Juried Art Show is hosted by the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library. Celebrating twenty years of regional artist exhibitions, the show is open to artists working in any media and will be juried by J. Bruce Schwabach, former Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Herkimer Community College. Work will be on exhibit from November 4th, 2016 through January 4th, 2017 in the Regional Art Galleries.

The mission of the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond. The Arkell Museum collects, preserves, researches and presents American Art and Mohawk Valley History, and promotes active participation in art and history related activities, to enhance knowledge, appreciation and personal exploration by all.
