Famous Fido: The Strange History of Early Canine Celebrity

By the late 1800s, famous dogs were all the rage. World-traveling “rovers,” mutts trained to act drunk on Vaudeville stages, and the canine film stars predating Rin Tin Tin are just a few of the dog characters who had bigger fan bases than some human celebrities. Historian Kelli Huggins will introduce you to the weird, but true, world of early dog stardom.

This program is free to the public, and donations are welcome. For more information, contact Curator of Education & Public Engagement Jenna Peterson Riley or call (518) 673-2314.
