By the late 1800s, famous dogs were all the rage. World-traveling “rovers,” mutts trained to act drunk on Vaudeville stages, and the canine film stars predating Rin Tin Tin are just a few of the dog characters who had bigger fan bases than some human celebrities. Historian Kelli Huggins will introduce you to the weird, but true, world of early dog stardom.
